The North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Association, Incorporated announces the call for nominations for the 2018 Aggie Alumni National Convention Awards.

The Aggie Alumni National Convention will award distinguished alumni of North Carolina A&T State University with the following awards:  Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award, Young Alumni Entrepreneur Award, Alumni Humanitarian Award, Young Alumni Award for Professional Achievement, Outstanding Undergraduate Alumni Award, Outstanding Alumni Chapter Award, Howard C. Barnhill Distinguished Service Award, Julie S. Brooks Achievement Award, Velma R. Speight Young Alumnus Award (Under 40) 

Nominees for all of these awards are not required to be affiliated with an alumni chapter; however, all awards share the following requirements.  Note:  Also see additional requirements for each award under AWARD DESCRIPTIONS.

  • Must be a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University
  • Three (3) Letters of support/references that display respect, ideals, and character that coincide with that of NC A&T State University Alumni Association
  • Has a history of demonstrative giving and has made a donation to the alumni association and/or university for two consecutive years prior to being nominated.
  • Must have rendered outstanding service to NC A&T State University, the Alumni Association, his/her local Alumni Chapter and/or have outstanding achievement in his/her profession, community or public service

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Award Nominations will be open from February 1st through April 1st, 2018.
  • Completed nomination forms must be submitted online, including photograph, and must be made via the 2018 Aggie Alumni National Convention website.
  • Nominations forms must be completed in its entirety to be eligible for consideration.
  • Current members of the Board of Directors of the NC A&T State University Alumni Association are not eligible for these awards.
  • Previous recipients are not eligible for the same category.
  • Completed nomination forms must be received by the North Carolina A&T Alumni Association, Inc. on/before 11:59 PM EST April 1, 2018.

 

Awards will be presented during   the 2018 Aggie Alumni National Convention Scholarship and Awards Gala on Saturday June 9, 2018 at convention headquarters -The Westin Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia.  Award recipients will be notified by May 1, 2018.

  • The 5 recipients of this award have made significant contributions over a span of years to their chosen professions, achieving recognizably important stature or reputation while also demonstrating depth and broad involvement.
  • The 5 recipients of this award have advanced their professions in broad capacities and distinguished their work with dedication and service.
  • Young alumni (within 15 years of graduation from NCATSU. This award is designed to recognize entrepreneurial leaders among NCATSU’s young alumni who demonstrate leadership capability and exceptional achievement by transforming their ideas into ventures that provide products or services in their chosen field.
  • This award recognizes an alumnus who has exhibited excellence through their community service related profession, the populations with whom they work, and their ability to serve as a bridge between cultural groups.
  • The Distinguished Citizen Alumni Award recipient fulfills the following additional criteria:
  • Alumni who have unselfishly and generously contributed their time and talents for the enrichment of others and the betterment of their communities. This award bestows recognition on those individuals who have given of themselves in support of various civic, charitable, philanthropic and social welfare organizations. The recipient shall have an extraordinary record of service and volunteerism.
    Alumni who have provided inspirational leadership in their civic and professional activities.
  • Alumni whose work has had an impact on the world.
  • Alumni who has lived their lives promoting global understanding, peace, and social justice through their chosen endeavor.
  • Recognizes significant contributions by an individual in his or her profession. Recipients demonstrate a commitment to excellence in post-academic life and an ongoing commitment to professional work, research, multicultural relations and/or volunteerism, while being recognized as an emerging leader.
  • Special consideration will be given to nominees who demonstrate significant initiative by starting innovative service projects, research, businesses or other original enterprises in or out of the workplace that show potential for continued success.
  • Professional achievements demonstrating a high level of professional excellence, resulting in significant career advancement at the local, regional, national or global level.
  • Outstanding achievement in the nominee’s field of endeavor, related to innovative, intensive and thorough research or creative work.
  • The purpose of this award is to provide public recognition in the form of a Outstanding achievement award to a undergraduate student with current classification of Junior or Senior.
  • Recipient must have completed at least 18 hours of course work in identified major
  • Recipient must have completed at least 25 recorded Community Services Hours.
  • Occupy or have held positions of leadership in one or more major student organizations and/or in state or nationally recognized student’s organizations.
  • Recipient must have the following recommendation letters
  • (2) faculty, (2) staff, (1) Student body member
  • Recipient must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Total number of Community based activities
  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring
  • University Scholarships given
  • Demonstrated support to the University
  • Demonstrated support to Young Alumni
  • Outreach activities
  • Must be a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University

  • Must have rendered outstanding service to NC A&T State University, the Alumni Association, his/her local Alumni Chapter and/or have outstanding achievement in his/her profession, community or public service
  • Current members of the Board of Directors of the NC A&T State University Alumni Association are not eligible for these awards
  • Previous recipients are not eligible for the same category
